Keoh Nohari Shihan Course - Romford
On Saturday26th April 2008 Sensei Steve Leak and five Students attend a karate and Kobudo seminar with Okinawan master Keoh Nohari Shihan (8th Dan). He is a direct lineage instructor dating back to Itosu
Shihan introduced everyone to the kata used in his Shorin Ryu style of karate. This was far different to our own way of doing things but everyone really enjoyed it and got into the training in true karate spirit. Shihan made sure that everyone in the room got his personal attention, no nean feat as over 150 people where there.
After a short break Shihan began the weapons training. Starting with bo, sai and finally nunchuku. Shihan explained the history of karate from his point of view and made kind reference to Funikoshi Sensei and his experience in Japan with Jigori Kano the founder of Judo.
It was a great honour that Shihan allowed Miriam Jassam of the Village dojo to demonstrate her version of the bo kata shushi no kon.
