|
On Sunday the 16th September a small Shotokan squad of five
made up from Karate Internationals Leeds and Sheffield
Dojo's met to compete in the British Shotokan Kyogi's
Championship held in Oldham.
The squad members were Habib Azizi,Luke Stewart, Tony McKenzie, Becky Montgomery and Emily Longstone the only junior . All five are to be congratulated on their efforts Emily was very unlucky when her second jodan mawashi geri was disallowed but she'll get over it . Habib Azizi from the Leeds dojo gave a fantastic performance to gain first place in senior male kumite 9th to fourth kyu making short work of his opponents. Luke Stewart from Sheffield showed great spirit and amazing control to get second place in senior male black belt kumite, those who were there will understand what I mean by the control comment. Becky Montgomery again from Sheffield did extremely well in the senior female open grade kumite this was her first kumite event and to achieve third place as an Eighth kyu fighting against dan grades I think deserves a mention. WELL DONE TO ALL SQUAD MEMBERS LETS KEEP IT UP ! We hope that more of our students will attend the competitions in future and invite anyone interested in Karate International to contact us on 0113 2735156. We are planning to hold full squad sessions in the near future and to send our team to international events in 2008
